Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Allen.

Sean, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When my mom died in 2005, I took all the learned baking skills my mom taught me and created Cake Buzz. I took all of her recipes and got them drunk, like her peach cobbler is now a drunken peach cobbler, her sweet potato pie is now a tipsy sweet potato pie, her butter pound cakes are now full of your favorite alcohol, my slogan is “what’s your drink? let me cake it”. and “have your cake and drink it too!” I have over 500 flavors of liqueur cakes tipsy sweet potato pies, pecan, walnut, pumpkin and drunken peach & apple cobblers my mother’s name is Clara Belle (CB) so I used her initials CB and thought of Cake Buzz in her eternal memory. As the one and only cake bartender, my desire is to have a TV show unlike anything out there, called celebrity Cake Buzz, Whats your drink? let me cake it. There are over 100 celebrities with their own liqueur I want to invite them on my show to cake their favorite drinks.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road has not been smooth. In the beginning I had to experiment a lot to get the cake to stay intact so as to maximize the most amount of alcohol, then I had the same issue when creating the frosting, so now there is 1 1/2 to 2 cups of alcohol in 1 pound cake, then I had to search for everything needed to package and label the cakes. I have a full-time job as a longshoreman so I was not trying to sell cakes at first. When people wanted a cake I put it on a paper plate and covered it with aluminum foil then some friends started telling me to try to find packaging, iI did not know what to call this business at first I called it party cakes I made a bunch of flyers and cards then I started taking samples everywhere I would give them away and get responses from people. As it started to grow I got a lawyer and he said I needed to change the name because party cakes belonged to someone else, now I was thoroughly frustrated because I spent a lot of money on cards and flyers with party cakes on them I had to change the name, so I sat at home trying to think of a name to call this business. Eventually, I thought of using my mom’s initials CB and came up with Cake Buzz, my knowledge of the computer was limited so I did not know much about social media so some friends started telling me to market it on myspace and twitter so I did that. I started reaching out to people and organizations that were having celebrity events, pretty much doing everything for exposure.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Cake Buzz – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My business is specialty liqueur cakes, I take your favorite drink that you may have at a bar and cake it. My slogan is what’s your drink? let me cake it. I’m known for rum, vodka, tequila, brandy, cognac, beer, wine, champagne, bourbon, scotch, whiskey, sake any combination of alcohol you can imagine. as a company, I am most proud of just being able to get my concept out of my mind and into reality. What sets Cake Buzz apart from any other desserts or bakery is the alcohol factor and creativity behind it.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like the diversity of people the most about our city, I dislike the regulations that hinder small business.
